Chemical and ecotoxicological testing of river water and direct discharges has been undertaken throughout an 11km stretch of the River Aire, as part of Phase II of the UK Direct Toxicity Assessment (DTA) Demonstration Programme. The study has demonstrated the application of Stages 1 and 2 of the proposed DTA protocol and the results are presented here.
