Call for Expression of Interest on new project - Quantifying & Reducing Direct GHG Emissions from Treatment Processes

The new project "Quantifying and reducing direct greenhouse gas emissions from waste and water treatment processes" will be open for Expression of Interest from 12th August to 8th September.

The water industry is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and one of the ‘Big Questions’ posed by UKWIR to help inform the strategic programme of research is: ‘How do we become carbon neutral by 2050?’. To achieve this, a better understanding of the greenhouse gas emissions that are specific to the industry’s treatment and disposal processes must be developed.

This project will enable the industry to develop a better scientific basis to quantify the process emissions which result from the way that they treat water and wastewater and dispose of treatment products.
