Welcome to "Microsheets" - UKWIR's Database on Waterborne Microorganisms and Emerging Pathogens

The software for this version of the Database has undergone a thorough update to meet the changing requirements of internet browsing technology. This has also provided an opportunity to organise the increasing amount of information in to more logical sections and make improvements to some of the database features. The new system looks very different, it is designed to be intuitive, so feel free to explore. There are help pages to assist if needed.

By logging into and viewing the datasheets, you are agreeing to both this disclaimer and the terms and conditions of the site.

Microsheets has been developed to provide information on the health significance of microorganisms that may be of concern to drinking water suppliers. The database has been compiled over a number of years by WRc and the Health Protection Agency (HPA), now part of Public Health England, on behalf of UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR). Microsheets contain a wealth of information on bacteria, viruses and protozoa that may be present in drinking water including:

  • Organisms of risk to human health
  • Nuisance organisms
  • Epidemiology and transmission
  • Detection methods
  • Water treatment

Before using these Microsheets you confirm that you have authorised access to the Microsheets and agree that you have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions and the Disclaimer set out below.
