Long Term Investment in Infrastructure
Analysis was undertaken at a national level to examine the infrastructure investment required to sustain current levels of service to water and sewerage customers in the long term.
Scenarios were considered to take account of future improvements in technology which may influence the investment levels required; in almost all cases it was shown that current investment levels are unsustainable in the long term.
Comprehensive stakeholder consultation was undertaken to gather the views of companies, regulators and government.
The current regulatory methodology for setting investment levels was evaluated and recommendations made for reform in order to account for necessary increases in infrastructure investment.
The outputs of this project provide companies and other stakeholders with a platform on which to build to justify increases in investment to sustainable levels.
